Leopard (Panthera pardus) – AfriCat Foundation, Okonjima, Namibia
Wahu’s life in the wild was inadvertently brought to an end at just a few days old when a local farmer stumbled upon him in the bush, believing him to have been abandoned. Hand-reared, sadly Wahu could not be released back into the wild. Instead, he lived out his long life on the AfriCat reserve, serving as a leopard ambassador. His role has been to captivate visitors with his penetrating gaze and highlight the plight of his species. Much loved by all who met him, Wahu had a profound impact on me as well. This is my tribute to a legend. A perfect specimen in every way.
