Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) - Southern Red Sea
Diving is where photography all began for me. I was enthralled by the other-worldly quality of life beneath the waves and the feeling of being totally immersed in the environment. Taking photos underwater is technically demanding: The light is difficult, and both the photographer and the subject are in constant motion. Taken with a fish-eye lens, this turtle was no more than a foot away from me. I needed to be as low as possible but avoid damaging the reef, so I hovered just above the delicate coral and was rewarded with this shot.
